Sunny Pre-Storm Walk
Sun, Feb 27, 2000; by Dave Winer.
It's pouring cats and dogs out now, windy and raining, it's a storm of a night. But yesterday it was very dramatic and *sunny*, the storm was coming in, but the light was just incredible. So I took my usual walk, this time with my camera, and learned something important that might seem obvious, but it was a revelation to me.
When someone says "Take My Picture!" what they really should say is "Take a picture of the light that's bouncing off my body." Trees and streets and fields, horses, cars, paths, are just things for light to bounce off of. And the quality of the light determines what kind of picture you're going to get.
Yesterday's light gave everything a soft but dramatic glow, which fit the weather. It was quite warm for February, almost tropical in feeling, not quite like New Orleans in spring, but not far from it either. Look at how green everything is!

PS: Did you see the deer? Around here we hate them, they eat all our roses, but people from out of town see Bambi! Oh isn't it cute? Yuck.
PPS: I love my camera!
